Polly McQueen peacefully departed this life to join her loving Creator on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. She lived a long, happy life filled with love and laughter.
Polly was born on May 5, 1928 in Belton, Texas to Maggie and Robert E. Lee Tims. She married Rex Edward McQueen. They had one son, Eddie Gene (Bo) McQueen. In 1964, they moved to Kyle Ranch in Loving County, Texas and lived there for the next 28 years, working alongside her husband.
Polly became an avid bowler, beginning in 1959, and was inducted into the NMWBA (New Mexico Woman’s Bowling Association) Hall of Fame in 1993. She enjoyed bowling until 2015 with her granddaughters. Even after she couldn’t bowl herself anymore, she enjoyed going to spend time with her bowling family. Her words were “My sister took me bowling in Austin. The first ball I threw fell off my hand behind me. After that, I was hooked.”
Her other hobbies included crocheting for family and friends, traveling (especially fishing trips with her family), and watching her Dallas Cowboys. She was the best cook and even cooked for all the Cowboys at the Ranch.
She was met at the gates of Heaven by her parents, brothers, sisters, her loving husband of 45 years, Rex McQueen, her son, Eddie Gene “Bo” McQueen, and great-grandson, Ethan Cole.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, Nanny, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish their memories of their “Nanny” are her five grandchildren, Tracie (Randy) Palmer of Orange Grove, Texas, Shelly (Mike) Sweeden of Orange Grove, Texas, Stephanie Breckenridge (Robert Fierro) of Big Spring, Texas, Marirose (Marlon) Goocher of Florida, and Rex (Erin) McQueen of Waxahachie, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren, Lara, Drew, Chad, Sheri, Janice, Marsha, Tristan, Bo, Kristi, Summer, and Tyler; fourteen great-great grandchildren, Noah, Sebastian, Hailynn, Aiden, Karalynn, Shooter, Oliver, Nova, Sarah, Caleb, Jackson, Emma, Evan, and Brook; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth McQueen of Waxahachie, Texas as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.
