James Cooper Long, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home in Alice, Texas.
He was born on August 1, 1947 in Falfurrias, Texas to Rosa Lee and Marvin E. Long.
Cooper was a very loving person and dedicated his time to care for his parents and grandparents as they became elderly until their passing. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as watching the Dallas Cowboys, Bull-riding, and NASCAR.
Cooper is survived by his two children, Dana (Josh) Donovan of Shiloh, Illinois, and Michael (Kelly) Long of Granite City, Illinois; the mother of his children, Arlene Kay Long of Fairview Heights, Illinois; four grandchildren, Aidan Donovan, Sabrina Long, Kathryn Rose Long, and Natasha Long; two sisters, Rosemary (Ronnie) Skarke of La Porte, Texas, and Sue (Dan) Stewart of Schertz, Texas; and one brother, Ned Long of Alice, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Harold Roan officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 E. Main St., Alice, Texas.
