Shirley Ann Umphres, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 7, 2018.
Shirley was born on August 14, 1935 in Crystal City, Texas to Alta Fanny and Martin Coleman.
She was a beloved pre-school teacher at Methodist Play Day for over 20 years and was a longtime member involved in the First Presbyterian Church in Alice.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, now in the arms of Jesus; she will be remembered and missed by the family and friends who have been touched by her presence.
Left behind to cherish their memories of her are her two children, Carrie Thompson of Alice and Bill (Susan) Umphres of Alice; two grandchildren, Katy (Lance) Springs of Sandia and Jet Thompson of Banquete; one great-grandchild, Arden Springs of Sandia; her sister, Fay Valentine of Uvalde, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Alice with Pastor Kris Bair officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice.
