Sterling Adolph Maresch, age 93, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018. He was born in Gonzales, Texas on January 18, 1925 to Meta and Adolph Maresch.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the United Veterans Burial Association. He was a self-employed oilfield mechanic until his retirement.
Sterling was a fisherman and loved going fishing with his wife, Ernestina, at Copano Bay. He raised his own vegetables and enjoyed maintaining his garden and playing his harmonica at church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Irene Maresch; a son, Glenn Maresch; a sister, Bernice Sommerlatte and a brother, Cecil Maresch.
Sterling will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Ernestina R. Maresch of Alice; his son, Steve (Dana) Maresch of Alice; his grandchildren, Jason Maresch of Florida, Jonathan Maresch and Justin Maresch both of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Stephanie Fling and Shane Fling of Corpus Christi, Angela Vrana of Alice and Amy Davis (Santiago) Prado of College Station; his great-grandchildren, Sydney Fling, Scarlet Fling, and Stephen Fling, all of Corpus Christi; his nieces and nephews, Lilly (Craig) Cash of Alice, Josie Valerio of Kingsville, Marcos (Monica) Rangel, Refugio (Esther) Gonzalez, Roy (Rosie) Gonzalez, Rev. Refugio (Olivia) Gonzalez, Justo (Crystal) Gonzalez all of Alice, Rosendo (Bernice) Cuellar, Jacob (Terry) Cuellar, Rhonda (Tim) Fowler all of Victoria; Gustavo Trevino of Pistol Barrel, Jason Trevino of Garland and Amado (Dorsey) Reyes of Ganado; Clyde Sommerlatte, Jr. and family of Austin, Milton Sommerlatte and family of Gonzales, and his sister-in-law, Marie Schumacher and family of Yoakum, as well as extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice with Family receiving Friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor John Waak officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice, Texas.
