Charles Thomas Castellow, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at his home in Sandia, Texas. He was 84 years old. He was born on October 25, 1933 Conroe, Texas to Portia and Fred Castellow.
Charles served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He married his sweetheart Annitta Thorpe on October 1, 1955 at the Thorpe home in Alice. He graduated from Lamar University with a BA in 1959. They moved from Port Arthur, Texas to Alice, Texas in 1960 and he became the owner-operator of the Piggly Wiggly store. He later owned Castellow Chevrolet and Oldsmobile in Mathis for 28 years until his retirement. He and Annitta resided in Alice from 1960 until 2001, then they moved to Mathis Lake where he resided until his passing.
He enjoyed working on the family genealogy and traced his family history all the way back to the Mayflower. He acquired his pilotís license and dreamed of owning a Bonanza, and finally, his dream came true. He not only owned his Bonanza but also several other airplanes. After his retirement, Annitta bugged him to quit flying! So he did - and he took up riding motorcycles!
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Annitta Castellow, his sister, Dorothy Myers, and a nephew, Russell Myers.
