George Ray Segree, age 80, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his home in Sandia, Texas.
He was born to Elsie and William Segree in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on November 15, 1937.
George grew up during the 1940s and 50s in western Kentucky. He served his country in the United States Navy for 22 years active duty, then 10 years as fleet reserve, from 1956 to 1975, which included the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his military career, especially his advancement to the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
He and Nelda Jean Adcock were married on February 16, 1979. His greatest memories that he spoke of always included his children and grandchildren; as well as the many people, places, and events in his military career. His hobbies were fishing and enjoying diamond cruises.
George was preceded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Linda Lou Passanante.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nelda Jean Segree of Sandia, Texas; his children, Michael (Connie) Segree of El Campo, Texas, David (Greg) Segree of Midland, Texas, Terry Marklin (Richard Witzsche) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Rhonda (Craig) Austin of Alice, Texas, Pam (Scott) Farish of Deer Park, Texas, Barbara (Scott) Thompson of Canyon Lake, Texas, and Addie (Tom) Jacobsen of Copperas Cove, Texas; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph (Alma) Segree of Campbellsville, Kentucky and John (Alice) Segree of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; as well as many cherished friends and extended family.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Holmgreen Mortuary.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at West Shore Baptist Church, 150 FM 534, Sandia, Texas.
Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Rd, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
