Mary Jo ”MiMi”, Pearson, of Midlothian, Texas passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, October 19, 2017 at Charlton Methodist Hospital of Dallas. She was 85.
She was born Mary Jo Wood on January 9, 1932 to Jesse and Modene (Bailey) Wood, in Agua Dulce, Texas, where she lived most of her life. She married Billy Leon Pearson on May 6, 1950 and they were married 63 years, until his passing in 2013. Mary Jo graduated from Agua Dulce High School, attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, where she graduated with an Education Degree. She started and ended her career in Agua Dulce teaching 4th Grade for 33 years. One of her greatest joys was teaching. She said upon retirement, “ I have taught students, their children, and now their grandchildren. It is time for me to retire.” After she retired, she and Billy traveled the U.S. in their trailer, went on numerous cruises with friends and enjoyed traveling until her health no longer allowed them to do so. They both moved from Agua Dulce to Midlothian, in 2004, to live with their daughter. For the past two years she has been under the passionate care of the nurses and staff of the Midlothian Healthcare Center.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister-in-law, Betty Hale. She is survived by her daughter Leslie (Jeff) Franz, of Midlothian, son Joel (Elizabeth) Pearson, of Houston, grand children: Day Lynn (Brad) Webb, of Katy, Russell (Brandi) Myers, of Victoria, Jordan (Joel) Armstrong, of Midlothian, Lauren (Daniel) Rieke, of Houston, 13 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Joan McShan.
There will be a graveside service at the Rose Lawn Cemetery, in Alice, Wednesday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m.
