William A. “Billy” Matula, Jr., passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the age of 70. He was born to Edna and William Matula, Sr. in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 7, 1946.
Billy was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Agua Dulce. He was a former employee of Central Power & Light, and an oilfield salesman having been an employee of Smith International, and Baker Hughes. After retirement, he spent time remodeling many homes in Alice and in Agua Dulce.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his second mother, Dorothy Matula, as well as his sister, Carolyn Vanover.
Billy will be dearly missed by his two children, Carrie (James) Mixon of George West, Texas and Cory (Kasi) Matula of Shiner, Texas; six grandsons, Justin Bray, Tyler Mixon, Beau Mixon, Kade Matula, Kaleb Matula, and Kase Matula; one sister, Willie Mae Thompson of Corpus Christi, Texas; five brothers, Marvin (Mary) Matula of McAllen, Texas, David (Jean) Matula of San Angelo, Texas, Kenneth (Pat) Matula of San Angelo, Texas, Johnny Hill of Corpus Christi, Texas and Gerald (Pat) Hill of Bulverde, Texas; and his brother-in-law, Bill Vanover of Alice, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Agua Dulce, Texas. Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Fund or to a charity of your choice.
