Melinda Vasquez went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 8, 2017.
She was born in Alice, Texas on January 24, 1962 to Viola and Juan F. Vasquez.
Melinda was a loving, caring, and nurturing mother, daughter, teacher and friend.
She was a blessing in the lives of her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Alice, was a Sunday school teacher and helped as Historian for the Church. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Texas A & I University in Kingsville. She then taught in public schools for 37 years – 24 of those years with the Alice Independent School District. She was a dedicated teacher to her students. She enjoyed reading, arts and crafts and especially drawing.
Melinda loved her family and Mark, her son whom she loved so much, was her greatest joy and Sunshine!
Left to cherish her memory are: her son, Mark A. Vasquez of Alice; her parents, Juan F. and Viola Vasquez of Alice; one brother, Johnny H. (Irene) Vasquez of Colorado Springs, CO; a special uncle, Rafael Soliz, Jr. of Alice; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Holmgreen Mortuary in Alice, Texas with Pastor Cornelio Vasquez officiating.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Alice with Deacon Eddie Bickham officiating.
Interment will follow at Alice Cemetery.
