Fidelio Garza Salinas entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. He was 88 years old. He was born in Realitos, Texas on June 16, 1928 to Areopoldo and Nicasia Salinas.
Fidelio came from a large family that included eight children. He was a simple man who enjoyed simple pleasures and had a generous spirit. Fidelio developed many skills over his lifetime. He worked for the family grocery business and as an industrial painter and sandblaster. He was at home in his own skin and was comfortable in any place or conversation.
He was devoted to his wife and their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his family of origin. He will lovingly be remembered for his special sense of humor and his excellent memory of life in South Texas.
Fidelio was preceded in death by three brothers, Heriberto Salinas, David Salinas, Rolando Salinas.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Alicia G. Salinas; their four children, Alma Gloria (Dr. Tom) Garcia of Houston, Irma (David Bruce) Holtkamp of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Fidelio Salinas, Jr. of Alice, and Hector (Tabitha) Salinas of San Antonio; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters Elida Booker, and Elfida Johnson of Alice; brothers, Arnoldo Salinas of New Braunfels, S. G. “Babe” Salinas and Armando Salinas of Alice; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Holy Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel with Funeral Service held following at 11:15 a.m.
