The sun shines less bright and the birds song is less sweet today as a truly beloved man, Otis Myers, entered his eternal home on April 23, 2017.
He was born on September 30, 1940 to Emmett and Nora Myers in Agua Dulce, Texas. He graduated from Agua Dulce High School in 1957. He attended Texas State then went to work for Tennessee Gas Pipeline. In 1966, he went to work for Celanese Chemical Plant in Bishop and quickly made shift supervisor in the nylon area. He joined the Fire Crew and served as fire chief for over 20 years where he was affectionately known as “Big O” and “Primo”. He was instrumental in leading industrial firefighter training at Texas A & M Fire Schools Brayton field on numerous occasions. He became a Celanex Operations Specialist in the mid 90’s and retired in 2002.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Shawn (Dale) Novak of Boerne; his sons, Shay Myers of Kingsville and Stacy (Joanna) Myers of Ft. Worth; his precious grandchildren, Ashton (Taylor) Friedel, Colton Novak, Randa, Reagan, and Riann Myers; his sisters, Genell Whitt, Billie (Leslie) Hearron, Patty (Truman) Hall; his brother, Jimmy (Mary) Myers, and his aunt, Dot Dorsett as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Kingsville.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Kingsville with Rev. Jack Willoughby officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice.
