Gary B Hicks
Fort Worth, TX

Larry Lee and Gary Bee grew up together in Amarillo, Texas on 10th street in a poor East Side neighborhood. We were products of an America that cared about its people, and our schools and teachers were magnificent. Larry became a publisher, and I became a teacher. The Smallwood family was typical of the caring and sharing that went on in America, and Larry was typical of the loyal friends that all of us had. To say I will miss him sounds hollow...a grown man cried and is crying as I write this. Bye, Larry. I guess the White Capes will not strike again, but I'll see you later.

Love,
Gary Bee Hicks

Greeting, To my Spiritual Family Smallwood

It seems unfair that death should have the power to take away someone we love. When it happens the thought of never again being able to talk, laugh, comfort, or hold your loved one again can be devastating. My condolences go out to the family. As you prepare to lay your loved one to rest, may you can find comfort from your Bibles at Nahum 1:7. Jehovah God is a stronghold for the distressed.

Your Spiritual Sister

I am sorry to hear about Larry Lanette, I enjoyed the many years that I wrote for the Traveler. I still have some copies of the originals hand written "The Line Rider" that I would sent Yall and I think that I have a few copies of the Traveler somewhere.
"Ol' Cowboys Never Die"
By Adrian Lopez
OL' COWBOYS NEVER DIE
THEY JUST RIDE AWAY,
TO THE BIG ROUND UP IN THE SKY.
THAT'S WHERE THEY ALL GO TO BE WITH HIM,
SO THERE'S NO NEED TO BE SAD,
AND THERE'S NO NEED TO CRY.
FOR UP THERE THEY WILL BE WITH HIM,
AND THEY ARE A WHOLE BUNCH OF THEM.
I KNOW I'LL BE JOINING MY SADDLE-PALS
IN THE BIG ROUND UP IN SKY.
SO THERES NO NEED TO BE SAD,
AND I DON'T WANT YOU TO CRY.
JUST LET ME TAKE THAT ONE LAST RIDE.
